Position Type: Temporary, Part-Time $15/hour (Up to 200 hours total)

Role OverviewMake a meaningful difference in your community by helping older adults and individuals with disabilities confidently navigate their health insurance. As a Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) Counselor, you will serve as an unbiased, trusted advisor. You will provide vital clarity on Medicare benefits, prescription drug plans, Medicare Advantage plans, and extra assistance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Counseling: Deliver personalized, one-on-one guidance to clients regarding their insurance options.
- Assist with Enrollment: Guide individuals through the Medicare enrollment process to ensure they receive proper coverage.
- Manage Data: Input client paperwork accurately and timely into the state's STARS database.
Position Requirements
- Certification: Complete training to become a certified SHIIP counselor (training provided).
- Availability: Work flexibly to serve clients during the Medicare Open Enrollment period and other designated times.
- Skills: Maintain strong interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and basic computer proficiency.
