ECA:Sit & Knit Makes First Community Donation!

The Sit & Knit Extension Community Association (ECA) group launched March, 2023. The group of community volunteers meets twice monthly at the Extension meeting room to work on community service projects, provide instruction to beginners in crochet and knitting, and host hands-on workshops to build new fiber skills.

For their first community project, Cherokee County Department of Social Services was selected to receive the warm items that were handcrafted. These items were all different consisting of hats, scarves, mittens, blankets, and ear warmers. The group made 40 items and hopes to continue their efforts year after year as a way to give back to those in need!

Pictured below is Stephanie Mull with the Cherokee County DSS office. Stephanie reported how grateful DSS is to receive the warm items. “I already have children in mind for some of these items” she said.
