4-H’ers Win Awards at NED Activity Day

Bethel, NC – Washington County 4-H’ers participated in the 2017 Northeast District 4-H Presentation Contest on June 23rd, 2017. The contests were held at North Pitt High School in Bethel, NC.

Four-H offers its members an advanced public speaking experience through this contest and encourages them to utilize their organizational and speaking skills in their communities, schools, and clubs.

The local 4-H members that participated were Keymiya Norman (15), Marisa Horton (15), Madeline Chandler (11), Mollie Chandler (9), Heather Rogers (10), Taylor Tucker (14), Germari Tuggles (12), and Aaron Spruill (14).

Judging took place on June 23rd, 2017. Judges included educators, 4-H volunteers, faculty, and staff. Washington County 4-H’ers received many awards including 2 gold medals awarded to Aaron Spruill in Pork Cookery, and Madeline Chandler in Forestry and Wildlife, 3 silver medals awarded to Heather Rogers in Horse, Keymiya Norman in Arts and Communication, and Germari Tuggles in Egg Cookery, 1 bronze medal was awarded to Marisa Horton in the Healthy Lifestyles category, Marisa also participated in the 4-H Entertains competition where she showed off her talent of singing. Participation awards went to Mollie Chandler and Taylor Tucker.
