Tri-County STEM Fair

The Tri-County 4-H STEM Fair took place on March 28th, 2017 at the Vernon James Center in Plymouth, NC. Youth ages 6-15 from across Chowan, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties participated in this year’s fair. Projects ranged in topic, covering all areas of science! As part of a STEM Fair Project, youth use the scientific method to investigate a question of their choosing, present their procedure and findings on a table-top presentation board, and then present their findings to the judges, and stand for questions.

This year’s STEM Fair Winners included: Overall Champion, Charles Middleton of Washington County, Division 1 (Ages12-15) Champion, Samantha Corduan of Chowan County and Runner-up Will Schreckengost of Tyrrell County, Division 2 (Human & Health Science, Ages 9-11) Champion, Dazhia Rouson and Runner-up team of D’Asia Hyman and Makiya Benton of Washington County, Division 3 ( Environmental and Plant Science Ages 9-11) Champion Christian Kuster and Runner-up Emily Aquilar-Madera both of Washington County, and Division 4 (Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering Ages 9-11) Champion Charles Middleton and Runner-up team of Areyon Downing and Mikehi Melvin of Washington County. Over 50 Washington County youth participated in this year’s STEM Fair.
