4-H Babysitters Complete Training
The arrival of summer means an increased need for babysitters as many parents scramble to find seasonal care for their out-of-school children. This past week Washington County 4-H offered a Babysitting course for youth ages 11-15 at the Washington County Farm Bureau office in Roper, NC. The class was from Tuesday June 18-Thursday June 20th and had 7 participants. Students were trained to be safe and nurturing babysitters through education on Safety and Emergency Skills, Ages and Stages of development as well as age appropriate games and activities, caring for infants, toddlers, and young children, and good business practices. In addition, youth participated in a CPR course and will receive their CPR certifications from the American Heart Association. All youth received a certificate of completion for the course, a first aid kit, a first-aid how-to book for children and babies, and a notebook of all the resources covered in the class and some extras. Washington County 4-H would like to congratulate the following class participants and wish them luck in their new babysitting endeavors: Emily Chandler, Tamyia Sanders, Jahnea Riddick, Dinah Matthews, Alexus Downing, Victoria Smith, and Jasmine Birdo.
